Presentation: Identifying Trade Markets In today’s business environment, sustaining growth and profitability is never a guarantee. Technological and scientific advances shorten life cycles of products and services, business models change, and new competitors appear from outside the industry. This constant instability makes it necessary to seek new business opportunities. How do you identify market opportunities in these conditions?

Presenter: Dr Tony Ngwenya, Entrepreneurship Lecturer at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) Graduate School of Business and Leadership (B Com, PG DIP Mktng Mngt, MBL, DBA Innovation). Tony has extensive experience of approximately ten years in the management capacity in the private sector, state-owned entities and non-profit organisations in and around the province. The leadership positions he has held include being a founder of ISSO (an NPO specialising in social entrepreneurship mentorship in the townships and rural precincts in and around KwaZulu-Natal), motivational speaker and social entrepreneurship activist. Presenter: Taweni Gondwe-Xaba, Chief Marketing Officer at the Durban Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Taweni’s career over the past 21 years has been primarily in the advertising, publishing and marketing industries in South Africa and Malawi. With content generation and production as her key fortes, she has worked across all media platforms from print to radio, television and online. She has a passion for promoting the rights of children and youth as well as for nurturing the potential of women as contributors with an equal share of voice in the public arena. Her career highlights include being a Launch Editor of the first South African edition of the widely successful O, The Oprah Magazine in January of 2002. Prior to this, Taweni was Founding Editor of the Design Indaba Magazine, Founding Editor of The Deal, a business lifestyle magazine, and publishing of the acclaimed Pan-African magazine, Ogojiii.
