Questions & Answers

The Durban Chamber has a proud legacy of serving Durban businesses since 1856 - a history spanning 160 years of existence. Through our networking events and business forums, we provide platforms for your business to engage and transact with potential suppliers, customers and partners. We also offer value added services such as discounts on business services from our members and partners. We lobby government on numerous issues in our quest to promote a conducive business environment for our members.
To be seen is to be heard! As the ‘Ultimate Business Network’, the Chamber prides itself in the affiliations it has with different organisations, ranging from other Chambers of Commerce, Banks, Business entities, and tertiary institutions. To fully reap the benefits of your Chamber membership, your business needs to be an active role player within the Chamber.
Ensure you are involved in Chamber activities and are aware of legislative developments that have the potential to affect your business. The Chamber communicates with its members on a regular basis through live forums as well as electronic mediums such as email mailers and social media.
We represent member companies across Durban and the surrounding areas across all sectors of industry and embracing all sizes of organisations.
As Durban’s largest independent business voice, the Durban Chamber champions the issues that affect business and the economy of the province. As a member-driven organisation, we are tasked with addressing the policy-related concerns of members. This involves scanning and, where possible, responding to the policy documents emanating from government at all three levels – local, provincial and national – as well as identifying issues of relevance to business in the Durban area.
The Durban Chamber communicates with its members through online platforms. Email communication is sent out to our membership informing them of upcoming activities and engagements. This information is then filtered down on to the Durban Chamber website and on social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.
Chamber events are open to members and non-members, unless otherwise stipulated. Naturally, first access will always be given to members as the Chamber has a commitment to servicing them in honouring their annual subscription payments. Depending on the nature of the event, the Chamber has the right to close or open events to members only.
